APPLICATION TECHNIQUE
Administer anesthesia and establish complete isolation.
Desinfect the canal thoroughly.
Perform mechanical preparation.
Dry the canal with absorbent paper cones, without causing excessive dryness.
Position the applicator tip 2 to 3 mm below the CRT and inject BIO-C Sealer into the canal retroactively.
Insert the gutta percha cone(s).

BIO-C Seaeler contains in its composition calcium silicate, which in contact with the local humidity is hydrated, producing a hydrated calcium silicate structure and calcium ions and hydroxyl. A part of the material in the form of calcium ions and hydroxyl can be absorbed rapidly in contact with periradicular tissues if accidentally overflown. However, hydrated calcium silicate is a silica matrix, which together with the radiopacifier (zirconium oxide), represents the insoluble part of the product, and present high chemical stability, being difficult to absorb or solubilize.

Yes. In the root canal filling techniques that use gutta percha heating, the maximum temperature reached by the equipment is 200°C. The BIO-C Sealer is stable at this temperature, unlike some other root canal sealers that degrade at temperatures close to 144ºC.
The “alkaline reaction” is the hydration reaction of the product which, in contact with the moisture of the environment produces Ca(OH)2 - calcium hydroxide and contributes to the increase in pH|alkalinity. Clinically, this hydration reaction depends a lot on the conditions of the root canal where the sealer will be inserted, which is a more or less humid canal. Under standardized conditions of humidity, the hydration reaction - "alkaline reaction" - takes an average of 28 days, however this process occurs in phases (I, II, III, IV and V) with variation in the amounts of Ca(OH)2 produced in the long-term.

Bio-C Sealer offers acceptable flow characteristics with good radiopacity. The dispensing system prevents cross-contamination and no-mix ease of use is of good value to me. It is also advantageous that it sets in the presence of moisture.
