What is the difference between Östby and Young frames?
The Östby frame is most used in endodontic procedures. Its shape adapts to the patient´s facial features and keeps the rubber dam over the nose. The U-shaped Young frame is most used in restorative procedures.
Why should the patient´s nose be covered?To avoid the spread of microorganisms from breathing which will contaminate the endodontic operative field.
Why is Östby frame radiolucent?With the purpose of not interfering with the radiographic image.
What is the advantage of being autoclavable?As the most indicated frame in endodontic procedures, it shoul be rigourously asseptic.
