APPLICATION TECHNIQUE: Periodontal retention
Make a channel 0.8 mm deep and 2 mm wide.
Prepare with 37% phosphoric acid for 30 seconds, then apply adhesive and light-cure each segment for 20 seconds.
Fill half of the groove with composite resin, then position the Interlig and light-cure each fiber segment for 20 seconds.
Apply a composite resin to the fiber, light-cure, and then finish and polish.
APPLICATION TECHNIQUE: Fiber-reinforced restoration
Cut the Interlig fiber into small pieces and insert them into the deep part of the cavity.
Cover with composite resin and light-cure for 20 seconds.
Repeat the same layers as necessary.
Apply the final layer of composite resin to complete the restoration process. Occlusal adjustment, finishing and polishing.

Interlig® is already a silanized and impregnated fiber, so it is not necessary to do any kind of treatment before use.
The pre-impregnated fiber is ten times more resistant than fibers that are not impregnated during their fabrication. For a complete absorption of the resin by the fiber, besides the appropriate volume of resin, a period above 24 hours is required for silane treatment and immersion in resin.
Fiberglass is much more resistant (282 MPa) than polyethylene fiber (86 MPa).

Interlig, unlike polyethylene fibers, is treated by cold gas plasma and it can be touched without alteration of its properties.
Interlig must be totally covered by the restorative resin because it absorbs water. In case of exposition to humidity, properties will be altered. Interlig is impregnated with light-cured resin and should be protected from light.
As long as it is covered by the resin, there is no limit for the maintenance of Interlig in the mouth.
There is no limit, as long as tooth mobility and occlusion are considered. In more extensive cases, it is recommended to use two layers of Interlig.
A groove is only necessary in permanent cases. For temporary use, fabrication of grooves on the teeth is not recommended. Interlig must be totally covered by the restorative resin because it absorbs water. In case of exposition to humidity, properties will be altered. Interlig is impregnated with light-cured resin and should be protected from light.
